the man who can't be moved

going back to the corner,
where i first saw you
gonna camp in my sleeping bag,
i'm not gonna move
got some words on cardboard
got your picture in my hand
saying: if you see this girl can you tell her where i am
some try to hand me money
they don't understand
i'm not broke
i'm just a broken hearted man
i know it makes no sense
what else can i do
how can i move on
when i'm still in love with you

cos if one day you wake up
and find that you're missing me
and your heart starts to wonder
where on this earth i could be
thinking maybe you'd come back here
to the place that we'd meet
and you'd see me waiting for you
on the corner of the street
so i'm not moving
i'm not moving

police man says son you cant stay here
i say there's someone i'm waiting for if its a day a month or year
got to stand my ground
even if it rains or snows
if she changes her mind
this is the first place she will go

cos if one day you wake up
and find that you're missing me
and your heart starts to wonder
where on this earth i could be
thinking maybe you'd come back here
to the place that we'd meet
and you'd see me waiting for you
on the corner of the street
so i'm not moving
i'm not moving
i'm not moving

people talk about the guy
that's waiting on a girl
there are no holes in his shoes
but a big hole in his world
maybe i'll get famous as the man who can't be moved
and maybe you won't mean to but you'll see me on the news
and you'd come running to the corner
cos you know it's just for you
i'm the man who cant be moved
i'm the man who cant be moved

cos if one day you wake up
and find that you're missing me
and your heart starts to wonder
where on this earth i could be
thinking maybe you'd come back here
to the place that we'd meet
and you'd see me waiting for you
on the corner of the street
so i'm not moving
i'm not moving
i'm not moving
i'm not moving

going back to the corner were i first saw you
gonna camp in my sleeping bag and i'm not gonna move

love a song that tells a story. nice romantic song. a little creepy though.

some thoughts. romance doesn't last. you know, that affectionate, playful romance young couples tend to have. is that being cynical, or realistic? does it not last for everyone, or does it just mean you haven't got the right one? those people who say they're lucky enough to marry their best friend, their soul mate. the way it's meant to be, or once again, unrealistic?

love is more important than romance. true, but is it too much to ask for both?

I did start writing this post on 14 September, 2 days after my birthday. But I didn't complete it and didn't publish it. Two and a half months later and I still haven't gotten round to completing it to my satisfaction, but I can't be bothered anymore... here is the abruptly-cut-off version. Meant to be a post about my birth DAY. What you see is more like... 8am to 10am. LOL.

Friday 12 September 2008. It is my day off from work :) I wake up about 8am or so. Soon after cousins Kim and Sam drop by before school and leave me with my first gift of the day...

The one and only Birthday Donut

A good start to the day. I love you both. Very much

Was then called "lalahead", "bumhead" and "lalabumpoohead", which I suppose was Sarah's way of saying "Happy Birthday".

The steady trickle of messages... very amusing, very indicative of personality...

Mum. Longest message.

Dad. Shortest message.

Rachel. Simple, playful, makes me smile.

Andrew. Idiot.

Twenty five. They say it's all downhill from here...

How's Work?

Today I was part of "The Giant Walk" - a world record breaking attempt to have the most people walking for 1km at the same time (http://www.thegiantwalk.com.au). Anyway us Chevron employees taking part walked from QV1 to King's Park and had lunch catered from wagamama's when we got there.

So yeah, another thing to add to the list of cool things I've done at "work"  Since joining Chevron in February, I have:
  • Had every second Friday off
  • One of the two Fridays a month I come in, I get a 20-minute massage
  • Played in Corporate Cup soccer
  • Planted trees in a catchment area of the Swan River
  • Sailed to Garden Island on the Team Leader's boat and had a BBQ there
  • Learned to be a qualified First Aider
  • Learned to put out fires with extinguishers and blankets
  • Gone to Spain to eat tapas and drink sangria (and look at rock formations)
Then in my spare time I try to save the planet by working on the largest CO2 sequestration project in the world, so that the largest project in Australia can go ahead.

So yeah, working for Chevron is pretty cool.

Family Economics 101

Dad on phone with Andrew...

"Eh I give you $50 to buy a cake. On 7th September you can eat a slice. On 12th September ask Richard to eat a slice. On 27th September ask Jane to eat a slice. The leftover... give your cousins la."
